Choices. Love them or hate them? Did you choose what you do now? Was it your choice or was it a case of it was just chosen for you? As women, we tend to have it mapped out. We go to school, we might go and get a job or go to uni, and that’s what we do. Then we get a partner, then we might get married, have children, then the children leave.
What Makes Something a Good Choice?
What do you do now? Did you choose what you are doing now or was it given to you? And do you want to choose something different? Are you in that situation where you now have the opportunity to choose something different? But what do you choose? Do you have too many choices? How do you decide what is right? Are you worried that time is running out and you’re not sure which one to choose? Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed? Have you got way too many choices and you want to make the best choice?
Choices Can be Overwhelming
There’s lots of studies being done on choices. There’s one about jam where in one of the local supermarkets, they put a table out with six lots of jam. People got to try them, see what they like. They bought some. But then the next day they put a table out with 30 lots of jam. How many do you think people bought? Not a lot. They just got too overwhelmed and they couldn’t make a decision. I don’t know about you, but when I go to a restaurant, I tend to pick the first thing that I see. I don’t always go through every single thing that’s on that list.
I just pick something that looks nice. Or sometimes if I’m being lazy, I pick something that my husband or whoever else I’m with picks. And then if that sounds good, I go with that. Restaurants have actually sold more by having fewer things on their menu because the choice overwhelms us.We don’t know where to start. We don’t want to make the wrong decision. So quite often we make the choice not to decide. Is that what you’re doing?
