When a spark falls on dry leaves, it begins to smolder. We have 2 options, fan it and create a flame or stomp it out. If we choose to fan it then we also have 2 options, curate the flame into a beautiful warm light that shines bright and shows us the way or allow it to run riot and create a wildfire.

When a woman does well why do other women often want to stomp out her flame. Instead of nurturing these young (and young at heart) women, helping to create opportunities for them we often add roadblocks and make it harder for them to succeed.

This week was International Women’s Day and I went to a fabulous high tea hosted by Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) and Financial Planning Association (FPA), thank you to all that organised this lovely event. The Guest speaker Kasey Venter, shared her personal story which was inspiring, raw, heartbreaking and real.

Kasey has had many challenges that she has had to overcome to achieve the amazing things that she has achieved so far in her life. The thing that stuck me the most about Kasey’s life story, was the women that had tried to tear her down, hold her back or not supported her when they could have, or should have.

Together, We Are Stronger

Ladies we need to support one another. Let’s make an abundant world where the pie is big and keeps growing. Let’s all have a larger slice of this growing pie and not fight amongst ourselves for the scraps.

On the week of International Women’s Day let’s remember how far we have come, and work towards creating a better future for our daughters, sisters, mothers, friends and all women.
