That is what a client said to me today.
There is a lot inside that statement.
Yes, I provide systems.
Yes, I help with structure.
Yes, we build clear strategies.
However real breakthrough does not come from a system alone.
It comes from clarity.
And clarity does not come from being told what to do.
It comes from thinking differently.
Coaching Is Not Advice
Many business owners have experienced “coaching” that felt like instruction.
More tactics.
More templates.
More noise.
Advice has its place. Strategy has its place. Experience matters.
However if all you receive is someone else’s answers, you never build trust in your own.
Most coaches and business owners are not stuck because they lack information.
They are stuck because:
- Their thinking is tangled
- Their confidence has been shaken
- Their focus is scattered
- They are carrying assumptions they have never questioned
My role is not to fill your head with more.
My role is to help you untangle what is already there.
Powerful Questions Create Breakthrough

You already hold more knowledge than you can currently access.
Sometimes it is buried under doubt.
Sometimes it is clouded by comparison.
Sometimes it is drowned out by too many external opinions.
Powerful coaching questions do not give you answers.
They provoke awareness.
They challenge thinking patterns.
They surface blind spots.
They help you extract insight you already possess but have struggled to articulate.
When a client says I helped them “unpack their brain,” this is what they mean.
I did not override their thinking.
I helped them organise it.
And when the insight comes from you, not from me, it sticks.
It becomes embodied, not borrowed.
Confidence Backed by Qualification
Trust matters in this work.
You are not just choosing someone to discuss marketing tactics. You are choosing someone to sit inside your thinking.
I am an ACC accredited coach with the International Coaching Federation.
That means I have completed formal training, logged coaching hours and been externally assessed against international coaching standards.
ICF accreditation requires competence in:
- Core coaching skills
- Ethical practice
- Clear boundaries between coaching and consulting
- The discipline of staying in coaching rather than defaulting to advice
This is not casual conversation.
It is structured, intentional and professional.
Coaching and Mentoring Are Not the Same Thing

However I do not disguise mentoring as coaching.
If mentoring is part of our work together, we decide that ahead of time.
We agree on what the mentoring will cover, what decisions it will support, we set up separate dedicated sessions and do not switch between modes in 1 session.
That way you always know what you are getting.
If a client needs direction, I give it.
If a client needs a framework, I provide it.
If a client needs insight from experience, I share it.
That is mentoring.
However mentoring is not the foundation of my coaching.
The foundation is powerful questioning that builds clarity, self trust and confidence.
Because sustainable growth does not come from borrowing someone else’s certainty.
It comes from accessing your own.
And when that happens, breakthrough is not forced.
It is owned.

Frequently Answered Questions (FAQ's)
1. What does it mean to unpack your brain in coaching?
It means untangling your thinking so you can see what is true, what is assumption, and what matters most. The insight comes from you, which makes the breakthrough stick.
2. How is coaching different from advice?
Advice gives you someone else’s answers. Coaching builds your ability to think clearly and trust your decisions. Strategy and experience have a place, yet they should not replace your own judgement.
3. What does ICF ACC accreditation mean?
ACC is an International Coaching Federation credential. It signals formal coach training, logged coaching hours, external assessment and clear ethical standards and boundaries.
4. How do you handle mentoring and coaching in the same program?
Mentoring is used when practical guidance will save time or prevent mistakes. It is agreed in advance, with clear scope and it is not mixed casually into a coaching session.
5. Who is this coaching style best suited for?
It suits coaches and business owners who feel mentally stuck, scattered or unsure and who want clarity, self trust and a steady way to make decisions without relying on templates alone.
